Mr. Kenneth Galbraith, a very famous economist, wrote a book named, "The Scotch". Nineteenth century literature referred to the Highland clans as "Scotch" [or, Irish/Erse]. The "Scotch Irish" from Ulster settled in the southrrn States. Highland emigrants of the /eighteenth /nineteenth century referred to themselvs as "Scotch". Perhaps, the "Scottish" academes should take note. Maybe the drink was named for the people. Margaret Cameron Long Sault Ontario
