Oops! My apologies - since all of my Scottish research has been pre 1910, I was unaware of that problem. Irene On 11 September 2011 10:30, Tim Sewell <[email protected]> wrote: The cost of GBP12 that Vanessa quotes only applies if you need an official certified "extract" of the registry entry. For most Family History purposes, a downloaded image of the relevant registry page will meet your needs and that will cost significantly less. To quote the Scotlandspeople website : "An extract is an officially certified copy of a statutory register entry or copy of a parish register entry or census page. Extracts of births, marriages and deaths can be used for legal purposes or for formal applications such as passports". http://www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk/content/faqs/index.aspx?42 will explain all, but (to quote the site FAQ again)basically the process is thus: "Access to statutory, OPR, Catholic parish register and census indexes costs 7GBP. For this fee, you will receive 30 "page credits" which are valid for 1 full year. Viewing a page of index results costs 1 credit and each page will contain up to 25 search results. Viewing an image costs 5 credits (equivalent to 1.17GBP). Your session begins when payment has been authorised and additional credits may be purchased in 7GBP increments." Thus to view the index page which contains the single Sheila Agnes Walker entry will cost one credit, and to download the image of the relevant registry page will cost an additional 5 credits (GBP1.40 in total). At that stage you will still have 24 credits left, which could buy you images of a further four registry entries. You might well go on to find the marriage record for Sheila's parents, plus birth records for three of her siblings, all included in the inital GBP7.
