Ron - the Lord Lyon requires anyone asking for a coat of arms to submit a pedigree so that the Lord Lyon can devise a coat of arms relevant to that person, thus any pedigree from the Lord Lyons office is only as good as the submitter put in. It is NOT a product of the Lord Lyon. All the best, Gordon. On 20/05/2012 08:01, [email protected] wrote: > > Today's Topics: > > 1. Hi I helped a friend submit a pedigree to the Lord Lyon office in the 1990s. It had to go through her solicitor in Edinburgh and she had to produce a 3 generation fully certificated tree. So it's maybe like everything else .....post 1855 will be OK but pre-1855 might have a bit of wishful thinking <g> Irene On 20 May 2012 10:29, Gordon Johnson <[email protected]> wrote: > Ron - the Lord Lyon requires anyone asking for a coat of arms to submit > a pedigree so that the Lord Lyon can devise a coat of arms relevant to > that person, thus any pedigree from the Lord Lyons office is only as > good as the submitter put in. Hello: Thank you for the responses. My intention was to ask if anyone had requested an copy of an existing pedigree and to see what if any advice list members would suggest to me. I want to request a pedigree which I found references to in a source about the McDonell of Leek. I am descendant of this family and my intention is to compare my work so far with that pedigree. A decade ago I received copy of the 'Pedigree Ross of Balsarroch' from Admiral Maurice Ross (a distant cousin). I am descendant of this family and I was able to confirm ,many relationships. I also found an error in my line which I am in the process of documenting to submit to the Lord Lyons office. Regards, Ron On S
