Hi Irene, Thanks for helping me. First I should say that researching Scottish records/sources of any kind is new to me. I've heard of ScotlandsPeople site and just registered. I need to study just how it operates, but a basic question is, Do they charge for the full information from records? How interesting that you found Edward Lambert; indeed this has to be the right family as my Joseph and Catherine's youngest known child was Edward; I had 1828 and you find two Catholic entries for an Edward in 1827. I did not think they were Catholic, so that does bring in a question mark. I will check the nls link for trade directories in Edinburgh. You will see that I made an addition just a bit ago to my original message, naming the seven known children of Joseph and Catherine. Hi The IGI gives a date of 1828 for the birth of an Edward Lambert in Scotland to Joseph Lambert and Catherine Bacon - and says this Edward died in Minnesota in 1919. The scotlandspeople site index gives 2 Catholic entries for an Edward to a Joseph and Catherine in 1827 in Edinburgh. If Joseph was born around 1760 it would make him significantly older than his wife and also pushing 70 when he emigrated ...unusual. The nls site has trade directories for Edinburgh online http://www.nls.uk/family-history/directories/post-office/index.cfm?place=Edinburgh Have you found a baptism entry for Andrew or John on scotlandspeople?
