Hi Bruce, Thanks for your help, don't suppose the chapel has a graveyard attached? I think you are probably right about Queensberry, as all my Kennedy descendants lived in the closes behind Queensberry St, especially on the 1841, 1851 & 1861 census' as I presume that their Fish Business was around there somewhere. Wonder how I could find out about that? Anyone have any clues to business records in this time frame. Of course just thought that they probably sold their fish at the Queensberry markets, were they a daily event? Oh so many questions that need answering Thanks again Fiona -------Original Message------- From: McBrucie Date: 07/17/04 01:39:34 To: Fiona Garrett Subject: RE: kennedy's HI, I Live in Dumfries, and from what you have said....I reckon S. Hello Pat, Did a quick look around and found David GLOVER aged 33 Head of Household, a farmer of 50 acres employing two servants on the 1851 Census. David born Tinwald, Dumfries. His wife was Mary Ann aged 24 born New Abbey, Kirkcudbright. No children shown. House servant Mary LAWSON, unmarried aged 37 born Cannobie, Dumfries and a farm servant Jospeh INGLIS aged 14 born Dumfries town. David remarried your Jemima HAINING 23 July 1854 Terregles and 28 July 1854 Troqueer, both Kirkcudbright. Their daughter Margaret Anne born 1 October 1855 Terregles. I was wondering because of the tight timespan between their marriage and death of David, could some of Margaret's sisters have been children of his first marriage. Anyway good luck in your research. Hi List Isn't it strange how things happen I also have a copy of Memorials of St Michael's by William M'dowall and I have just finished scanning it on my computer and opened my E-Mali to inform the list of this and find that Nancy in NJ has also got a copy and as this is a rare book printed in 1876 its very strange coincidence indeed. The book is indexed with about 600 surnames and makes fascinating reading the Memorials go up to about 1873 and there is quiet a lot about local characters not just the rich and famous. If anybody would like me to look for their ancestors I would be more than welcome to do so, William M'dowall does not put all of the people on the memorials and on a lot he just says ex number of children Best Regards David Brown Manchester UK dbccon@ntlworld.com Researching Wrights - Taits - Cowan - Jardine - Selkirk - Anderson - Barron - Blake - Milligan - Breck - Irvine and Kennedy all Dumfries area

Concerning Old, rare books. I have a number of them at my country home in Scotland. I am on extensive travel at the moment, but once returned, I shall be happy to give a list of those books for anyone interested. I also trace, track and purchase old books which are more specifically related to the Grierson family. I have a copy (indexed) of "The Annals of Buffalo Valley" [Pennsylvania], dated sometime about 1870s? Best of luck to all those dedicated to their family's history, David Grierson ________________________________________________________________ Sent via the WebMail system at mail.tqci.net

Hello Fellow Scotland Genealogists: Is there anyone out there who is researching the Barrie surname from the Sanquhar area from the 1740's onward in time? I am looking specifically for information on John Barrie of Sanquhar who was listed as a dyer and the owner of a business. He was the father of John Barrie, James Barrie, Robert Barrie and Margaret Barrie. According to several accounts, his wife may have been Isobel Forsyth whose father was a baillie in the area. Additionally, information also suggests that Margaret Barrie married John Russell, whose family was also from Sanquhar. Thank you Ray Ann Farington-Alt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com

Hi Robyn, Eastside of Guffolkland in Kirkconnel is tied closely to my McCall family and I believe I have most of your family documented, but have loaned out the info for now at the Highland Games. Should have back in couple of weeks. Sandy has sent me a message that there are 6 Ritchie stones at the cemetery and at least 9 Mccalls share the stones with the Ritchies. Our McCall Chieftain in Dumfries has a Ritchie son in law. Ron McCall www.clanmccall.org
