Hi, There is a pilot version of London's Daily News, The News of the World, The Weekly Dispatch and The Manchester Guardian at:- http://www.bl.uk/collections/newspapers.html Sheena.
Hello all: This is a list of prisoners sent from Scotland to Massachusetts in 1652. Scroll down to Massachusetts, then to Suffolk Co.-- Barbara http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~jdevlin/
Further comments re place names:- DRUMELZIER is in the south-east of Scotland and is just south of a line between Biggar and Peebles. WALTON-LE-DALE is south-east of Preston. ABBOTSFORD - In Dumfries the following buildings are very near to each other - Beaconsfield Cottage, Salisbury Cottage and Abbotsford Cottages. (The latter is a group of houses rather than one house.) I understood that they had been named after places in the south of England. Beaconsfield is now in Buckinghamshire and Salisbury is in Wiltshire so it is believable that Abbotsford could well be (or have been) in Surrey. Eunice Smith Edinburgh, Scotland
Hi Richard, I am a descendant of ANDREW STEWART born in Whithorn, Wigton, Scotland on February 1750 - at this time I cannot find his parents names. But if the naming pattern follows true to form his first son (6th child) along with his wife, LUCRETIA HANCOCK was WILLIAM. Other information that I have states that he was a descendant of LORD JAMES STEWART and possibly ISABEL COCHRAN. Am wondering if you have any information on these names. If so, please reply either on this list or privately if you will be sop kind. Best regards from a follow STEWART researcher. Evelyn R. (Moore) Frank Michigan and Florida USA

Hello :-) Would like to re-state my geneaological interest in the New Galloway area. Family name is GARRAWAY/GARROWAY namely James, his Irish wife Margaret Wylie, and their children who sailed for New York in 1855. James was a tailor by trade. The 1851 census reveals that he was born in England, and given the names of his children and the time in which he was born, I believe him to be a descendant of an Alexander Garraway who married Sarah Maccaddam in Kirkcudbright in 1778, later migrating to Whitehaven England -- where I am thinking James was born. Any one researching the same family... I'm ready and waiting :-)!!! Amanda
Hello all: Firstly, I will have my list of English places or Placenames done soon, and will give to those who have requested it, and any more who ask at my user address. If some one can, does anyone have knowledge of the LONDON GAZETTE? I have just finished an exhaustive review of The Times, London - from 1785-1985, five to six weeks, of Study through the digital archives for Griersons and I'm happy with it. Should any one have a specific request which you think may be in there, please ask now, and I will review my archives for it whilst it's still fresh in my mind. It must be Grierson related. Is this a paper that is indexed, or perhaps available online, having perhaps been digitized of THE LONDON GAZETTE? Hi John, Brilliant, just what I was looking for. I can use clips from two of the photos. There are loads of your Jardines in Applegarth, it is also on the cards for publishing soon. I'll remember this favour when I get it done. Cheers, Sandy Sandy, I just sent you (off-List) a zip file of photos I received from Davenia Cray of San Diego, California back in December 2000. She should receive the complementary booklet; I have no Jardine relatives of mine planted there anyway.
Does anyone have any information on emigration to the Falkland Islands from Dumfries & Galloway in the late 1880s, my ancestor Robert Hunter who was a shepherd went, but I see from records he came back and died in Dumfries, but I think his wife may have died out there. many thanks.

Further to my request and offer re St Mungo's I'm also looking for a couple of general photos of Ewes graveyard. Sandy
Hello Folks, I'm in the final stages of preparing a booklet of St Mungo's Deaths and Burials records extracted from OPR #847 covering the period 1702 to 1854. I have searched my photo database and am surprised to find that I don't have a single photo of this old graveyard. The booklet will be published shortly by DGFHS. If anyone can supply me with a couple of general photos of this graveyard I can promise them a complimentary copy of the booklet within days of publication. Cheers, Sandy
