Responding to the roll call, Assuming my family in the Poplar (East London, Middlesex, England) Roman Catholic baptism register (parents, in Latin, Jacobus DRISCOLE and Johanna nee PAUL) is the same family I found in the 1851 census (James and Jane DRISCOLL) then : My DRISCOLL family in East London is James DRISCOLL marr Jane/Johanna PAUL. Both born circa 1811 in Ireland per 1851 UK census. Living in Poplar, Middlesex in 1851 with three sons: Florance DRISCOLL born 8 Jan 1835 Poplar James DRISCOLL born: 27th November 1836. (both these also in the Poplar Roman Catholic baptism register) John DRISCOLL born circa 1838 Poplar, not in RC register, can't be found in civil index. I can't find the family in the 1841 census for Poplar or Limehouse. Florance was my g-grandfather. He changed his name along the way, adding his mother's surname and so marrying as Florance PAUL in 1867 in Poplar then migrating to New Zealand in 1873. Despite that he shows up in the 1871 census with his wife as DRISCOLLs and registered his daughter later that year as a DRISCOLL. However in NZ he only used DRISCOLL as a middle name - for himself and a son. Victor Paul, Loburn, NZ. email: v.paul@netaccess.co.nz
