I've gotten Michael's father's name as Timothy Driscoll (he married Mary O'Calaghan, not sure of the date). Michael Driscoll married Bridget Tierney in 1848 at Notre-Dame in Ottawa. Michael had a sister Catherine who apparently married a Lawrence Driscoll in 1846 in Ottawa. I'm still looking for any children other than John and Thomas of Michael Driscoll and Bridget Tierney. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you

All were born in West Cork, possibly BANTRY. There may also have been a brother Michael. Mary's sisters names were: Margaret (married name Fitzpatrick), Julia (married name Randall) Nellie (married name Kashubeck) and Nora (married name Blake). All were probably born in Ireland sometime after 1864 (Mary's year of birth) All were alive in 1938 when Mary died and were residing in NY, PA, and FL. Costello may be a maiden name of their Irish mother, or cousins to this family. Any information on these collateral lines appreciated.

Seeking anyone with any knowledge of my family ... My DRISCOLL family in East London is James DRISCOLL = Janes PAUL. Both born circa 1811 in Ireland per 1851 UK census. Living in Poplar, Middlesex in 1851 with three sons: Florance DRISCOLL born 8 Jan 1835 Poplar James DRISCOLL born: 27th November 1836. (both these also in the Poplar Roman Catholic baptism register) John DRISCOLL born circa 1838 Poplar, not in RC register, can't be found in civil index. I can't find the family in the 1841 census for Poplar or Limehouse. Florance was my g-grandfather. He changed his name along the way, adding his mother's surname and so marrying as Florance PAUL in 1867 in Poplar then migrating to New Zealand in 1873. Despite that he shows up in the 1871 census with his wife as DRISCOLLs and registered his daughter later that year as a DRISCOLL. However in NZ he only used DRISCOLL as a middle name - for himself and a son. Victor Paul, Christchurch, NZ. email: v.paul@netaccess.co.nz

Hello I've just joined and also sent a message to the Cork based Driscoll group. Can anyone suggest where to look next for Thomas Driscoll's(b.in Cork) ancestors. He migrated prior to 1816 when his first(?) child was baptised in Wrexham, Denbighshire. He was a beer retailer, publandlord, shoe maker, musician and also a Chelsea Pensioner which makes him a retired soldier. I think he and his family had a mother, Mary a widow of 86 when she died in 1841 living at the same address. Her husband was Jeremiah, a Royal Navy Master Carpenter. In hope as well as anticipation. Regards, Bill.

Thanks for your response. In the past two years, I have obtained the citizenship forms for my Cornelius Driscoll. He went to Quebec first, then crossed the border into NY and on into Sullivan County PA where my father, his great, great grandson still llives at the age of 89. I haven't traced him to Ireland yet though I know his wife was Margaret Kane and his parents Patrick and Bridget. So he can't be the same Cornellius Driscoll you found. Thanks anyway, and happy hunting. Gail Driscoll Fiorini
