According to Mary's marriage record of 16 Nov 1852, she was a spinster of 26 residing at 9 Rosemary Lane, Whitechapel, England. Her father Daniel, a laborer, was listed as deceased. The groom was Nicholas Lumbird (Lambert) age 25, a laborer, and also residing at 9 Rosemary Lane in Whitechapel. The marriage was witnessed by Edward Coughlan, Julian G(C)oulwand, and I believe the reistrar was William Taylor. The marriage took place at St. Ann's Chapel and was a Roman Catholic ceremony. If this sounds familiar, please reply.

    3. Hello all, Just a quick update to let you know that the planned migration for this list that was scheduled for today was postponed until Monday, August 21 For anyone interested the schedule and additional information may be found http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html Once this list is moved to the new service it should not present any problems but you should be aware that you may need to adjust your spam filters. Officially from rootsweb: <snip> The "-L" is being dropped from the "official" list name. This means the "from" address your mailing list emails come from will be slightly different- ListName@rootsweb.com vs. the current ListName-L@rootsweb.com. You may have to adjust your spam filters or put the new address on your "accept" list to prevent it from being caught in your "junk" folder. <snip> You will be able to send mail with or without the "-L" Any questions just email me at jasche45133@gmail.com

    2. Joan Asche
    3. Hello all, Just a quick list update to let you know that this mailing list is scheduled to be migrated to the new mailing list service on Wednesday, August 16. The change will mostly affect anyone who is subscribed in both list and digest modes. You will no longer be able to subscribe to both lists modes with the same address. You can belong to both modes if you like but you will need to subscribe to them using different email addresses. You can always use a free online email service such as yahoo, hotmail, or gmail. Anyone who would like an invite to gmail please contact me at jasche45133@gmail.com. If you do not change your mailing address to the digest mode you will no longer receive a digest copy, but you will still continue to receive your mail under list mode. Once again this only pertains to those folks who subscribe to both list and digest modes using the same email address. For everyone else things should go smoothly. For additional information regarding the list migration see: http://lists.rootsweb.com/index/migrate_sched.html Please do not discuss this on this list. If you have any questions please email me privately jasche45133@gmail.com. Sincerely, Joan Asche Admin

However, I'm still looking for Mary Driscoll who was born around 1826 in County Cork Ireland. Mary married Nicholas Lambert 16 Nov 1852 at St Anne's Chapel, Mile End, Old Town, Whitechapel, Middlesex, England. Nicholas was also born around 1826 and was a farm laborer. The couple had several children born between 1853 and 1869 (Mary, Ellen, James, Katherine, Nicholas, John, Margaret, Ann, and Joseph in that order). I would like more information on Mary Driscoll and her background. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Surnames: Driscoll/Lambert/Sullivan Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/GhT.2ACIB/592 Message Board Post: seeking information regarding Mary Driscoll parents unknown. She was born around 1826 in Cork County Ireland and died around 1907 probably in England (in Gatton Point, Surrey, England according to the 1871 and 1881 British Census. Mary married Nicholas Lambert 16 Nov 1852 at St Anne's Chapel, Mile End, Old Town, Whitechapel, Middlesex, England so she may have been there much longer. Nicholas was also born around 1826 and was a farm laborer. The couple had several children born between 1853 and 1869 (Mary, Ellen, James, Katherine, Nicholas, John, Margaret, Ann, and Joseph in that order) According to family lore, Mary "tended to the animals"----"would grab Nick (I'm assuming they mean Nick Junior) and put him in her lap"--"and could jump over a pig sty". Also according to the lore: Nicholas came from Dublin, County Cork, Skibereen--wed Mary and moved to England during the potato famine "because you couldn't get anywhere." He and wife lived in Surrey and leased 3 acres of land. Nicholas signed a 99 year lease subject to rates and taxes. He first built one room with a lean-to and had 9 children. If any of this rings a bell, please let me know.

His father's name was also James. He had 5 brothers (one possibly named Jeremiah) and one sister Mary; he immigrated from Ireland during the potato famine. He was a tailor and settled in New York City. According to family, his first wife died at sea. In the 1850 US census, he is married to Ann, but in the 1880 census he is married to Jane. Known children were Jeremiah, Abby and Mary. James died in 1901 in Brooklyn, NY; he was living with his daughter Mary McConnell.
