Author: DENISEHUTTON195 Surnames: DRISCOLL Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/surnames.driscoll/654/mb.ashx Message Board Post: My grandmother, Jessie Driscoll, (b. abt 1877 in 'Stevson, Dakota according to 1901 Eng. Census and Dakota in 1911 Eng. Census) had a brother Daniel(b. abt 1877) and a sister Ann. The claim is that they were brought up as young children in USA (native american nurse etc.etc.) where their father, also Daniel, was a captain in 'the army' until he disgraced himself and came to England. Sounds incredible and probably is! But is there any chance that this story rings a bell with other Driscolls? Any help would be much appreciated as I've hit a brick wall! Am looking for any information on her marriage. Here is a newspaper article (in 2 parts) that was published April 7 1976 about Mary Driscoll Hanlon, the wife (maybe the 2nd wife?) of Ambrose 'Pat' Hanlon. The picture in the article refers to her as "Hammond", but throughout the article it is Mary Hanlon. Mary had sent this to my parents in 1976. I would really like to connect with this part of the family. Since my father was born in 1898 and I was born in 1952, so many people were gone before I got interested in genealogy. Article also mentions that she is living with "Mrs. Fred Harding, a niece". Any info much appreciated. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. If spelling matters we have yet to see a definitive example. We have a reasonable sampling of participants with ancestry from county Cork. We have nobody who can trace their ancestry to county Kerry and would like very much to alleviate that. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
