He married Mary Ellen O'Donovan of Skibbereen on 2/14/26 and my grandparents had four children, Helen, Dennis, Patricia and Anna. My grandfather passed away in 1977 and my grandmother in 1982. I knew my grandfather's brother Pat very well and he passed away in 1981. He and his wife Theresa had three children. My grandfather settled in Staten Island, New York and Pat lived in Bayonne, New Jersey. I have visited the O'Sullivan's in Lough Hyne and there is still family living on the farm that my grandfather grew up on. I do have a family tree that I can fax to you as well as contact information for Breeda, daughter of Andrew O'Sullivan. Sorry, This is not any of our 3 Cornelius Driscoll ancestors. Our first US citizen was here by 1850, and the others were named for him. Came though Quebec, not Montreal. Good luck. I am looking for any descendants of Cornelius O'DRISCOLL [son of Jeremiah born Clonakilty, Co Cork 1874 & Julia nee ALLEN born Hanstown Co Westmeath 1876] and Therese TRAGHEIN [daughter of George & Mary nee SHERIDAN} who married in Montreal in 1935. Cornelius had a sister Mary Ann O'DRISCOLL born Ireland 1905 & a brother Edmund O'DRISCOLL born Ireland 1908. Julia travelled to Canada in 1913 with the 3 children, Jeremiah being employed on the railway. Any information on the three O'DRISCOLL siblings gratefully received. Many thanks.
Jean really wish I could help you, I've seen a lot of Cornelius Driscolls listed - I have hit a stone wall for over 15 years with my Daniel Driscoll, says born in the Portland Maine area, but for all this time I have never located his birth, death or marriage certificate. Found who he married, Carrie, Caroline Beals, but still no marriage cert., though in a later census it says M2 which I must assume means married twice, so maybe her name was not Beals when she married him, she was older. Again strange thing, she is buried in the family cemetery, but he is not......... these Driscolls seem very elusive!! Unfortunately as far as what I do know my family line had just the one male each time, Daniel had 4 girls and Joseph and then he had the one son - so unfortunately no one else is looking for the line.......I've even tried to follow Daniel girls line, so far nothing. Someday I hope to find him, maybe Daniel had brothers or sisters............it does say in the census that his parents were born in Ireland. He was born around 1863/1861 to give you a time frame. So exactly which names are you looking for?? Mary, Jeremiah and Julia?? Do you belong to ancestry.com?? if not I do and can do a few lookups for you, though I do not have their foreign module, just the US. Let me know if you find a Daniel in your research from the Portland area, though I do believe there is one listed with a Cornelius as a father, but the rest of his info doesn't match up to mine - his wife is listed with a different name. He was born about 1827 (cannot confirm, but drawing from the information I have this appears about right) in County Cork. He was the son of John Driscoll and Mary Coghlan. I am unable to locate records or evidence of his actual arrival in Australia or his departure from Ireland. I have two references to a 'John Driscoll' that interesct in Bendigo, Victoria where the Goldfields are. The first is as a sailor in HM Navy who jumped ship in Port Phillip Bay (access into Victoria) in 1854 and is recorded in Police reports in Port Phillip. He headed to Bendigo and little reference can be found directly related to this John. However this conflicts with the other references directly at the Gold Mines in Bendigo and his name appears on a petition written in June 1853 for Gold Miner's rights. John married in 1856, his wife died 3 years later and he remarried in 1860. Of what information I have found, including wedding certificates and the birth cerificates of his many children, he doesn't give much away about his family. My documentation clearly supports the gold miner and I have tracked my ancestry to him - I just cannot find the link to Ireland. Perhaps someone has a John in their records born about 1827 in Cork?
