His family migrated to the U.S. and lived in upstate New York (Whitney Point). I believe he had a large first family and lost his wife. He then remarried and joined families with a widow with a large brood. He was a bit of an adventurer and moved to a very small town in Washington state, believing it was going to be a large city. The large city, unfortunately, was settled 26 miles north of Reardan. He was an interesting man. He died in 1939 or thereabouts. He had married one of the Berrigan sisters and had four daughters, one of whom was my mother. Anything match? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Annie Driscoll and William Driscoll, children of Ann Driscoll (born in Monmouthshire, Wales in 1811). Annie moved to Plymouth, England and married Francis Dudley (born Kinsale, Cork, Ireland) in the 1850's. William moved to England later, and then to Scotland, and finally perhaps back to Ireland in the late 1800's. Males in the two families were coastguards. Mother Ann lived with Annie and Francis when she first moved to England, and later with William and his family. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. On brsgenealogy free index I found the baptism of a Nora Aloysius O'Driscoll born 1892 in Co Cork. And there are 13 matches for the search criteria: birth of driscoll (plus variants) ellen 1828-1832. It costs €5 to view any details. My granddad's (John Humphrey Collins) paternal grandmother was Ellen Driscoll, born about 1830, whereabouts in Ireland unknown, married Michael Collins 28-Feb-1854 in Drimoleague (Ireland) I believe. They raised their family in Lissane, just north of Skibbereen, and Ellen died 27-Mar-1919 in Lissane in the household of son Michael. The 1901 Ireland census record shows Ellen and Michael Collins with two of their adult children and a niece, Noria Driscoll, age 10. This is the only clue I have as to Ellen's identity. I am at a loss finding an Hanora, Honora, Honoria, Nora, or Noria Driscoll, Driscole, or O'Driscoll born around 1890-1 in Skibbereen, so I am inclined to think that perhaps Noria stayed in Skibbereen with her aunt and uncle while attending school, but her own nuclear family was elsewhere, like Bantry or Clonakilty. If anybody has any ideas about the origins of Ellen or Noria, I'd be so grateful if you contacted me! This is a true brick wall in my research, as my mother's surviving siblings know nothing about the Driscoll line in the family.
