    1. [DRAKE-ENG-USA] Drake family histories
    2. Janet
    3. After seeing so many amazing Drake family histories online, I want to mention that my close cousin Willis A. Davis (now deceased) retired from his job at Cherry Creek Bank in Colorado to live near my Mother and me inSpringfield, OH. This gave him a wonderful opportunity to get pictures and family info about her (and my) specific line of Drakes through Lee R. back generations to N.J. and our Revolutionary War ancestor Thomas Drake and then backward to England. Willis and I both used this Thomas Drake to become members of SAR and DAR respectively. I'm fortunate enough to have a copy of Cousin Willis's "A Drake Family History" (which may have been included in someone's on the Net - he didn't ever publish it) will see the Drake-Trotter connection - at least in our line. I'll just quote from my PAF every name index: Trotter, Rebecca (1655-July 5, 1655??) married in 66 (?) the Rev. John Drake Trotter, William (d.1675) m. Catherine Cuthbury Gibbs Something weird - possibly a typo Willis's index contains only the Gibbs- Trotter couple, on p.72

    1. [DRAKE-ENG-USA] Lee Raper Drake - buried New Carlisle Cemetery, Clark Co., Ohio
    2. Janet
    3. I recalled that my Grandfather Drake - on subject line - had an ancestral line that intermarried with surname Joyner, e.g. Fred B. Joyner, born 16 April, 1895 (OH?), died 23 April 1965, OH?) married Mae Drake. Does anyone show this couple? Unfortunately, the Drake line entered in my PAF shows only the following references to a Drake- Joyner coupling - and I've absolutely no dates or information about the Joyner line/s. Joyner, Fred B. m. Drake Mae Joyner, Frederick C. May 7, 1955-n.d. child of Lee Drake Joyner Joyner, Lee Drake b. April 2, 1932 - m. Janet M. Combs Joyner, Thomas Edward b. Oct, 25, 1925 m. Olive C. Downs Joyner, Thomas W. b. Oct. 12, 1956 m. S.. Rachelle Hablo That's all of the information I have for the Joyners. Thank you for looking. Janet McCrosky

    1. [DRAKE-ENG-USA] Fw: President Joyner Prepares to Lead Wittenberg

    3. ----- Original Message ----- From: Janet To: kerboth@wittenberg.edu Sent: Tuesday, June 19, 2012 10:55 AM Subject: Re: President Joyner Prepares to Lead Wittenberg As a Wittenberg graduate, class of 1954, I have read this article about the new President of Wittenberg with more than the usual interest. Her husband's surname, Joyner, appears in my personal ancestry file on at least five of my relatives through my grandfather Lee R. Drake's lineage. My grandfather Drake (my mother's father) was christened Levi (Lee)Raper Drake on March 31, 1874 in Tipp City, Miami Co., Ohio He married Emma Sterrett of New Carlisle, Clark Co., Ohio, and served as an attorney in Springfield, Ohio, until his death in Springfield on June 12, 1948. My maternal grandparents and other New Carlisle, Ohio, relatives are buried in New Carlisle Cemetery. I had no siblings and never married, so I'm end of that particular branch of the tree. The chances of any relationship of her husband to any of my long-ago deceased Joyners is probably non-existent - but it does add some spice to their arrival in Springfield. Thank you for presenting this article online. Janet Ellen McCrosky mej6070@att.net P.S. These Joyners apparently connect with the Drakes through intermarriage with Winters, Ullery, etc. A Fred B. Joyner, (1895-1965) m. MAE DRAKE. I also show a Lee Drake Joyner, born in 1932, year before I was born. (This info. taken from PAF Index.

    1. [DRAKE-ENG-USA] Where does this line come from?
    2. Janet
    3. When I hired a researcher in Hunterdon Co., NJ, to get the facts on my initial lineage line to a Revolutionary War ancestor, she sent all the information from N.J. end, also a picture of his tombstone; by great luck this was also her husband's lineage. So I hope I stand on solid ground when I state my #1 of several since proved ancestors who either fought or served in some way during the Revolution was: Drake, Thomas - b. 6 Aug. 1762 - Hunterdon Co., NJ; d. 8 June 1825 - Hunterdon Co., NJ m. 1 Mar 1785 - Elizabeth Reeder (1767-1809 - in Hopewell, Hunterdon Co., NJ) This researcher gave me what she had as his ancestry - and I'll try to enter bare bones, without naming children of each generation other than the one I needed for my line. Parents of my Thomas Drake: Daniel Drake (14 Nov. 1732- 8 Feb. 1818, NJ) m. 1754 - Hannah Anderson (1736-1774) Parents of this Daniel Drake: Benjamin Drake (1683-1763, Piscataway,NJ) m. - Mary Runyan (1677-?) Parents of this Benjamin Drake: the Rev. John Drake (1655-1740, NJ) m. 7 Jul 1677 - Rebecca Trotter (1655-5 Jul 1755????, NJ) [I can't read my writing for wife's death date - can anyone supply?) Parents of the Rev. John Drake: Francis Drake, Capt. (d. 1687 - Piscataway, NJ) m. Mary Walker (b. Co. Meath, Ireland - d. 29 Jul 1688, Piscataway, NJ) Parents of our Capt. Francis Drake (as close as our line got to water?) Robert Drake (christened 23 Jul 1581, Halstead, Devonshire, England; d. 14 Jan. 1667/1668, Exeter, New Hampshire) If this connects in any way to Sir Francis Drake, I wouldn't mind knowing. It was simply my researcher's unproved word that, in spite of Sir Francis's lack of legal children, Robert quite possibly was related in some way to him. Thank you for any assistance; please correct any misinformation and fill in any blanks I had to leave. My N.J. researcher (Betsy Erickson) worked with the Piscataway/Hopewell Hunterdon Co. Museum, moved to Florida years ago, and I've had no contact since. Janet McCrosky mej6070@att.net

Their branches just suddenly stop on the tree. Does anyone know if the childern died as young children or know what symptoms they had if they died due to illnesses? James Drake and Agnes had a child Thomas (listed as their third child.) Thomas is not listed as having children. Thomas is also not listed as having any spouse. James and Agnes had a child Nancy (listed a their first child.) Nancy is not listed as having children. Nancy is also not listed as having a spouse. James and Agnes also had a son Robert (tlheir seventh) who did have a spouse, Lou Martin. They had two children, John Thomas and Mary. Both John Thomas and Mary are not listed with spouses. They are also not listed as having offspring. Did these children die early from some possible genetic condition? Does anyone know? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. Martha
