She fought a brave battle with lung cancer for six months. Until the end, she had her sense of humor and a smile. Mom was born June 5, 1930 in Polo, Missouri to Orville Gilbert Bayer and Muriel (Stepleton) Bayer. Mom married our dad, Paul Doyle on January 12, 1950 in Topeka, Kansas. Mary worked in Kansas City and Independence, Missouri. She moved to Russellville, Arkansas in 1987 and returned to Polo, Missouri in 1991. She was preceded in death by her mother, Muriel Vaught in 1994, her husband Paul in 1995, sister Betty Rae Mott in 1965, sister-in-law, Doris Vaught in 1995 and her beloved brother-in-law Ron “Ron Baby” Williams on January 26, 2006. Mom was intensely dedicated and loving mother to her family and faithful friend to many. "Mom" raised her three children with her gift of teaching life lessons, as a confidante in time of need, and a giver of strength, compassion, grace and dignity. She loved to cook, and always made everything from scratch. She exhibited Southern hospitality because when you came to her house, she would always offer a beverage or dessert. Her favorite time of year was Christmas; baking hundreds of cookies and candy to give to family and friends. Mom was addicted to her Nintendo games until her sight became so bad. She liked crocheting, gardening and taking long car rides. However, her favorite thing in the summer was to have water fights with her children, nieces and nephews. Mary leaves her children and their spouses; daughters; Paula and David Bicket, Overland Park, Kansas and Linda Doyle of Kingston, Missouri and son Sam and Kathy Doyle, Lathrop, Missouri. In addition, she leaves one granddaughter; Lori and Jose Tejeda of Kingston, Missouri; one grandson and his wife; Christopher and Valerie Gaulter of Olathe, Kansas. She leaves five great grandchildren; Ashton and Taylor, daughters of Christopher and Gabrielle, Jordan and Christopher, children of Lori. Mom was very proud of her two grandchildren, both being in law enforcement. She also leaves two sisters, Ruby Williams, Kingston, Missouri and Beverly McCartney, Fort Dodge, Iowa and brother Bud Vaught of Polo, Missouri and sister-in-law Wanda Branstetter of Independence, Missouri. Also, 11 nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, June 12 at 10:00 a.m. in the Prairie Ridge Cemetery, Polo, MO.
