    3. Hi Dudley, I am still trying to connect my James Doyle to Martin Doyle - the dates are right, but no hard evidence. Keep me in mind if you find a connection. I am also working on the Nova Scotia link, but have not found anything. Connie Doyle Letendre

    3. Hi Connie, Yes it is frustrating to go over the same road time after time and not to get any further. But we can only hope for a little break somewhere. We know that someone somewhere holds a key to it but it is hard to find!!! The same unsourced record about Martin Doyle also says that his father's name was Michael and his mother's name was "Maggie", but nothing else. My Ancestors Line is (Michael Doyle (In Ireland), Martin Doyle Abt 1800-1898, Thomas Doyle 1852-1916, James Doyle 1882-1973 and my Father Harry Doyle 1903-1976. The entire clan lived in Essex County (mostly the township of Chesterfield). This Martin Doyle evidently was the first Doyle to settle in Northern New York State. Evidently there was another Martin Doyle, who came to Burke Township in Caledonia County of Vermont in the 1810 and settled there. His Descendants still live there as does the Other Martin Doyle who settled in Essex County NY. The two Doyle Clan's did visit each other, but what the relationship was I do not know. One of Martin Doyle's Sons, Timothy, also has descendants still living there in Vermont. You probably know all of this, but just thought that I would mention it. I will watch and I hope that one of us get a good break one of these fine days? Talk to you all later. 2. Dudley & Connie....seen your posting and was wondering just how much info was actually true. We who search for missin links know just how happy it makes us when we find another piece of history. I have a Martin Doyel/Doyle in my line that use to drive me crazy if not to far off places to search for his kinfolk. Martin had 18 brothers and sisters according to some researchers. How could anyone prove this? Being "IRISH" is startin to be some type of fad. Who knows maybe we have finally decided to join clans without knowin the reason...lol. Anyway......At the beginning of my kinfolk I show a Doyel/Doyle family from Bagenalstown, Carlow Co, Ireland. Depending on who says what and I might even have this wrong or mixed up I can only say that a story goes that a Samual Doyel/Doyle came to America somewhere around the Colonial days with three brothers. They somehow separated and it was said they never seen each other again. Samual was born about 1720, was believed to have married a Martha Farmer and had 14 children. His brothers name are believed to have been Michael, John and Martin. I havent tried very hard to research any of this. Their father might have been a Gregory Doyel/Doyle from Carlow Co, Ireland. Its hard to verify that info here in the USA. My research has been mostly in Kentucky where they are known to have ended up. There is a Martin Doyle known to have been in Logan Co, Ky married to a Mourning Webb. I have visited their final resting place and very unsettled with the way some towns keep their cem! eteries. Anyway......I found that they had 2 sons named John b. 3-21-1780 & James b unknown. They are buried there in Russelville, Logan Co, Ky. Their families moved on toward Illinois and Missouri at the time frame of the Civil War. As I'm sure you both know, most families back then used the same name pattern. Throughout this family is the names of brothers, uncles, grandfathers all switchin them around to keep the namesake in the family. Now that is really what I see as frustrating. Please contact me and lets see if we can "Hook each other up". The names of Martin, James, John, Thomas and Harry all fall into families repeatedly in my lineage.
