Mary Ann Doyle was born to Susan ??(b abt 1838 in Va.) and George (supposedly his first name-b abt 1834 in Ireland) Doyle in 1858-59. My problem is that I cannot find Mr Doyle with Susan or Mary Ann in any census. Family legend says that Mr Doyle abandoned the family soon after the birth of his children and started back to his birthplace of Ireland and died on the boat during the trip. I don't know what to believe. Can anyone enlighten me ? Thanks, Mike
