    3. Hi DOYLE LIST and Audrey! Audrey your computer has played a trick on you! Goodness!!, I looked at this big list of DOYLE's from Clinton County New York and wondered where they all came from? There were really only 19 Doyle's in Clinton County in the 1930 US Federal Census. This list here must be all the Doyle's from all over the United States who were in a County called Clinton! The last 6 Doyle's on the list are from Pennsylvania and the 4 above them are from Ohio and the 18 above those are from Clinton County, New York! John Doyle, b. 1846 on the list is my Great Grand Uncle. I do have ancestral ties to many of the Doyle's, mostly in Essex County and some in Ausable and Black Brook of Clinton County New York. All my Ancestors are of MARTIN DOYLE, b. Abt 1802 in Ireland and came first to Canada before 1840, and then to Chesterfield, Essex County, New York with his Wife NANCY MCCORMICK (she died Aft 1850) and with them was his three sons James, Timothy and this John (b.1846) (on the census list above). Martin Doyle then married a CATHERINE MCCREA Aft 1850. Then my line is THOMAS DOYLE b.1852 wife Jane A Maloney, JAMES THOMAS DOYLE b.1882 wife Bessie A Palmer, and HARRY V DOYLE b.1903 wife Nancy A Spear and you can locate me DUDLEY V DOYLE b. 1927 in the 1930 US Federal Census, Essex County, Essex Township, New York. Audrey, what ties do you have in Northern New York? And if any of the Doyle List Readers have any further information on MARTIN DOYLE, Nancy McCormick or Martin Doyle's Father and Mother Michael and Maggie (his father and mother's names were on Martin's Death Certificate). Anything regarding their stay in Canada or where in Ireland they came from or when or how they came would be greatly appreciated!!! Cem 1. A Lawrence Lacey's baptism is recorded 14 Sept. 1820, in the St. Abban's Church Register in Adamstown, County Wexford. The parents recorded are "Stephen" Lacey and Catherine Gaffney. I suspect this is an error on the part of the priest who recorded it. Perhaps Stephen was the name of the sponsor or was Pierce's second name. Lawrence above would have been born about that time. 5. vi Pierce Lacey b. c. 1823. Second Generation 2. Margaret Lacey b. c. 1810, Ireland, m. 3. Judy, When my mother was pregnant with me her father passed away and she and my father purchased a farm north of Binghamton in upstate NY. I was born there, at home. I did check out some Doyles on earlier census' but never knew of any connection and even asked my late Uncle Ed, my Dad's youngest brother, why they chose that area. He thought the land was cheap and listed for sale in some catalogue--but I still wonder if my father knew any of the Doyles in that area---or even Bogerts, his mother's maiden name. 3. Since there seems to be some Canadian questions being asked I thought I would take a chance and post what I know about the Doyles, hoping that someone may have a connection. Edward John Joseph Doyle was Hired by John Heavyside, lumber merchant in St. John, New Brunswick, Canada to go to Digby Co., Nova Scotia, Canada to cut lumber. While in Digby Edward married a widow, Mary Anne McWilliams nee Dillon. She had one son from her previous marriage. Edward and Mary had two children: John Edward and Anna Frances. Edward and Mary supposedly died due to a small pox epidemic and the children went to live with her family. According to information found on the internet there was an Influenza epidemic in North America from 1857 - 1859. At the age of 12 John Edward was adopted by a McCullough family in Saint John, New Brunswick. On the 1881 Canadian Census I have found a John Edward indicating that his date of birth was 1851 and Anna Frances was born in 1856. John Edward married Catherine Josephine Hawks. In the 1881 Canadian Census it shows them living in Saint John, New Brunswick and had the following children: William Age 9 John Age 6 Charles Age 2 In 1885 he married Mary McConnell and had the following children: Joseph Edward Born 1886 - 1888 Gregory Arthur Born March 12, 1889 - 1981 Florence Born October 3, 1891 Leonard Born 1894 Died 1919 Nicholas Wilfred Born September 10, 1897 Died December 1973 Anna Frances went to Digby, Nova Scotia and married a Wilbert Bent. According to the 1881 Canadian Census they lived in Digby, Nova Scotia and had the following children: John Born unknown Harry Age 10 Wilbert Age 10 Blanche Age 2 I would appreciate any information on any of the above ie parents, siblings etc. Also I would like to know what the connection is between the McCullough and Doyles. I read a message on the Doyle Gen Forum stating that a James McCullough married Mary Doyle in New Brunwick. Does anyone know anything about these people. Due to the fact that I am legally blind the net is my own research tool so any lead would be a great help. Thanks in advance Phyllis Ontario, Canada

    3. Carole, When I first started reading your post I was so excited. When I saw that he had 2 daughters Mary Ellen and Johanna. My Doyle also had 2 daughters Mary Ellen and Johanna but all the dates and marriages are wrong. Could be a connection somewhere though. I will certainly file this one away. Thanks, Vicky
