    2. Hi, It would be great to find some descendants of Patrick Doyle and Julia Farley Doyle. They were possibly from County Kerry, Ireland and arrived separately in NYC in the late 1840s. They moved to Newark, NJ sometime after 1858. Their children were: Mary Ann, born around 1855 Maggie, born around 1857 Sarah, born around 1858 John, born around 1862 Philip, born around 1863 Julia, born around 1865 Lawrence, born 1867 William, born around 1869 Rose Mary, born 1877 The first three daughters possibly died from the same illness. I do not know if they ever married. I am hoping to find their descendants, if any, and the descendants of John and William. Thanks. Kristy Kjag786@aol.com

I am looking for passenger records for the following people who likely travelled together ca 1850. John Doyle and wife Lucy Kavanagh (spelling) both born ca 1820. They would have travelled with a Richard - infant son born ca 1845 and possibly a son James. May have been a Pat DOyle of same age as John and some Kavanaghs including a Richard born ca 1800. Lucys first born son in america was born 1850. Last born in Ireland was 1845. So they travelled between those dates. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!! Brian

    3. Hi Judy, Here's basically what I have. This is from the 1880 census in NYC. Dennis Doyle age 34, Mary Boshell Doyle, age 34, Children: Rodger, 13; John J. age 12; Denis/Dennis age 8; Margaret age 5;David Nelson (my grandfather) age 3; Sarah A age 1 and M/L Eliza White age 50. Dennis, Mary and Eliza give Ireland as the birthplace At this time they were living at 240 10th Ave. NYC. We have birth or baptism, death and most marriage certificates for all except Rodger who just vanishes around 1908. Dennis served in the Union Army and lived to receive a pension. Now, my question concerns the Martin Doyle in Sherbourne NY. I was born just a few miles from there in S. Hamilton. When we visited in the late 80's it was just a road marker. My mother's father had died shortly before I was born (1934) and my understanding is that she and my father, David William Doyle, went there and purchased a farm which they kept for at least a year or two. They sold it later to my mother's regret and returned to Brooklyn where we all stayed. I contacted someone from the historical association in that county, to locate the original deed, etc. They were very nice and sent me maps, etc. But I keep wondering why my parents chose that particular place. It is miles from Brooklyn. So, I wondered about Martin Doyle. Dennis' father was an Edward Doyle but we find no record we can feel certain is our Edward Doyle except a copy of his marriage certificate from Dublin. However,as in most Irish families they repeat the first names endlessly and we have two Edwards in our family. I guess this is a stretch but I also know that the Bogert family (my Dad's mother) came from upstate NY. Maybe there is a connection. Probably not but worth a query. Thanks for reading all of this and for any help you might be able to share., Tell your cousin I hope he feels better by now. Shoulder pain is the worst. I have a Patrick Doyle in my family tree who came from Ireland and settled in upstate, NY. His brother, Martin, was my Gr. Grandfather. One of Martin's sons married Rose Crane. I do not have much information about Patrick Doyle. I do know he was born in Ireland. His mother was Mary Doyle. I think his father's name was Michael, but I have not quantified that yet. 3. Hey, Dudley, This is intriguing. I was born near Sherbourne, NY..(South Hamilton).lots of years ago and never found out why my parents chose that particular location. My family left before I was a toddler. Do you think Martin would e-mail me? Mayb e he can help me get some local pictures, etc. or mayb e he might even know the Schaefers who were neighbors of my mother and father's place...? I did get to Sherbourne some 15 years ago...maybe not that far back and had a terrific time talking to a man who owned an antique place near where some kind of dog food was first produced...I remember the sign. Unfortunately, I only had one afternoon to spend there and only got to S.Hamilton (a crossroads at the time) to look around. This would be wonderful if he would be interested in helping me get a feel for that time (1934-35) and if perhaps the farm is still around or reforested. Looking forward to hearing back from you.
