    1. Doyles in NY
    2. Harriett Auger
    3. Hi Doyles----I am still trying to figure out what happened to Edward Doyle, father of Dennis Doyle circa 1860-who married Elizabeth--in Ireland. We think Elizabeth and son, Denny, traveled to the US together. Edward could have died over in Dublin or traveled ahead and was still living when they arrived. Also, we have documents for all of the children belonging to Dennis Doyle and Mary Boshell Doyle, married around 1865 after Dennis left the Union Army, EXCEPT for the oldest son, Roger Doyle who disappears early in the 1900's. So many fires and mini-disasters occurred in the NY area at that time he could have drowned or died of the flu, and given the lusty life of the Doyle men (at least on my father's side)--maybe shot by someone's husband! It drives me crazy that they named all of their male children from a small pool of names and ditto for the girls. I am thinking of doing the DNA thing to rule out being side-tracked. The most tantalizing message on this list has three of my family names being resesarched: Doyle, Murphy, and Doherty. Well, just venting. I feel much better now. Harriett Doyle Auger formerly of Brooklyn, and now in NC ----- Original Message -----

    1. Doyle/McHugh Family, PA

    3. I'm seeking information on my great grandmother, Jane McHUGH-DOYLE. An index to her marriage record identifies her as Jennie McCUE (this marriage record is on order). Cousins of mine connected to the Doyle line remember her being called Jane but also recall the name Jennie. I suspect her birth name might have been Genevieve, based on naming patterns of the time. I have also seen Jane identified as a nickname for Jennie. Jane was born 29 July 1866 and married John. J. DOYLE (b. 25 Dec 1864 in Birekenhead, England) in 1886. The marriage occurred on 25 Aug 1887 in Pittston PA where they settled. Their children were William, Joseph, Thomas (Frank), Blanche (married TIGHE), Vincent, Margaret (married WILLIAMS), James, Regina/Jean (married O'ROURKE), and Anna. I found a census record from both 1870 that lists the following McCUE family. John b. 1830 in Ireland Jane b. 1840 in Ireland Mary b. 1861 in Ireland Martin b. 1862 in Ireland Jane b. 1865 in PA Thomas b. 1867 in PA Margaret b. 1869 in PA The 1880 Census Record for this family is the same with a few minor discrepancies in ages. If anyone recognizes either the Jane McCUE/McHUGH DOYLE information or the names in the above listed family, I'd be interested in hearing from you. -- Colleen www.omchodoy.blogspot.com www.onlyingenealogy.blogspot.com

They came with one child Elizabeth (my g-grandmother) in the 1840s. Daniel was born in County Kildare and Ann came from County Wicklow near Dublin. I don't have specific places. They had 7 more children here. Elizabeth married Thomas Kelleher and moved to Philadelphia. Mary Ann married Bernard Farley and stayed in Bristol.
