I would apprecaite it if anyone has any info to please share!!! The first Doyle our family has listed to come to America was Murtha Doyle, b.1820, who married twice, first to Mary Patterson, then to Ann Green. With Mary, (also from Irleand) he had 2 children, Mary, b.?, and John Francis, b.1855, who is my great grandfather. With Ann, he had 3, Joseph J, b.1861, Ellen, b.1860, and Hugh F, b. 1863. Murtha and Ann were listed as living in Philadelphia with their children in the 1880 census. I would like info on Murtha and Mary, where in Ireland they were from, as well as his parents....Can anyone help??? Does anyone have any ideas as to what I can do to find out? Thanks to all!!!

He married Anna Breen, born in County Wicklow. I find them in Rochester, New York from at least 1860 until their deaths in 1894 and 1897, respectively. Patrick was a stonemason. He and Anna (and several of their children) are buried in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Rochester. So far, I've made no connections with any living relative from this branch of my family. Anyone see a connection? I'd love to share info.

Carlow Genealogy web site: http://www.rootsweb.com/~irlcar2/ ? Some of the records for the Doyles I'm trying to trace are in St. Andrew's Church, Bagenalstown--twin sisters Bridget (later Delia) Ann and Kate Ann Doyle, baptised Dec. 8, 1858. Most of the other children of Margaret Coogan and James Doyle were born in Carraigbeg, not far I'd expect, from Kilcarraig. The youngest, Matthew Patrick, was born in 1871 in NYC after the family emigrated. There are many records of Doyles in the Bagenalstown area. I would not be surprised if yours were related to mine. See my posting Re: William F. Doyle, earlier. I also have plans to visit the Bagenalstown area in Sept. Maybe this time I can find some more of the family records. Was your John Doyle a blacksmith by any chance? Email gainmheach@aol.com. Happing hunting.
Etta, My Doyles --at least those I have documented--started in NYC--lower Manhattan and later moved to Brooklyn. But, I have some with the same first names--meaning probably nothing but teasingly intriguing. What other names do you have --for example, Bogert--my late grandmother's maiden name? or O'Brian?
