I don't know of any family that were in PA or NY, but who knows what will turn up, if we are lucky. I do hope someone that knows my family, and yours too, may be able to help at least one of us. Surnames: Doyle, Dillon, McCullough,McNeill, Bent Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/IcT.2ACIB/2026 Message Board Post: Since there seems to be some Canadian questions being asked I thought I would take a chance and post what I know about the Doyles, hoping that someone may have a connection. Edward John Joseph Doyle was Hired by John Heavyside, lumber merchant in St.John, New Brunswick, Canada to go to Digby Co., Nova Scotia, Canada to cut lumber. While in Digby Edward married a widow, Mary Anne McWilliams nee Dillon. She had one son from her previous marriage. Edward and Mary had two children: John Edward and Anna Frances. Edward and Mary supposedly died due to a small pox epidemic and the children went to live with her family. According to information found on the internet there was an Influenza epidemic in North America from 1857 - 1859. At the age of 12 John Edward was adopted by a McCullough family in Saint John, New Brunswick. On the 1881 Canadian Census I have found a John Edward indicating that his date of birth was 1851 and Anna Frances was born in 1856. John Edward married Catherine Josephine Hawks. In the 1881 Canadian Census it shows them living in Saint John, New Brunswick and had the following children: William Age 9 John Age 6 Charles Age 2 In 1885 he married Mary McConnell and had the following children: Joseph Edward Born 1886 - 1888 Gregory Arthur Born March 12, 1889 - 1981 Florence Born October 3, 1891 Leonard Born 1894 Died 1919 Nicholas Wilfred Born September 10, 1897 Died December 1973 Anna Frances went to Digby, Nova Scotia and married a Wilbert Bent. According to the 1881 Canadian Census they lived in Digby, Nova Scotia and had the following children: John Born unknown Harry Age 10 Wilbert Age 10 Blanche Age 2 I would appreciate any information on any of the above ie parents, siblings etc. Also I would like to know what the connection is between the McCullough and Doyles. I read a message on the Doyle Gen Forum stating that a James McCullough married Mary Doyle in New Brunwick. Does anyone know anything about these people. Due to the fact that I am legally blind the net is my own research tool so any lead would be a great help. Thanks in advance Phyllis Ontario, Canada
