    3. Dennis, There is a set of books (I think two volumes) whose title is something like Irish or Immigrants to the New World. It covers the whole period of the early famine immigration. We have some copies at our local library, but it is probably already online. Or maybe someone already recognizes the books and even has a set. If not, I'd be willing to check out the names for you. Incidently, my great grandfather's name was Denis (Dennis) Doyle and he and his mother Elizabeth (Betty) came to NYC in 1860 from Dublin. Dennis was in the Civil War, as a drummer. Lucky for him he was very short which I figure made him a more difficult target and he luckily survived. The odds of this being your George Doyle are probably small but stranger things have happened to me in my search for my family tree. Good luck.

    3. My great grandfather, Daniel Doyle, was born in County Mayo, Ireland on 8/15/1855. He was married to Margaret Collins in St. Josephs Church in what is now East Rutherford, New Jersey on 6/25/1882. I am trying to find out when he came to the US. I was hoping to narrow it down by tracking down when he first appeared in the New Jersey census, 1860, 1870 or 1880. I know that when he first came to the US he lived in Jersey City, NJ and then moved to East Rutherford which in those days was called either Union or Boiling Springs. I would appreciate any help that any list member might be able to give. Thank you. Dennis Doyle

He had a daughter Mattie Bell Doyle( my great-grandmother) and possibly two sons; George O Doyle & Newt Doyle. (I have the Doyle/Davis family Bible with many listings that I have yet to connect. He was married to Sarah Ann Johnson. If any of this is familiar, please get back with me.
