The reason that I am asking is that, despite there being so few Dowsetts I was not able to find your Gran's birth between 1881 and 1901. Then I had a bright idea and searched on CURTIS, and sure enough, in the Dec quarter of 1891 there is the birth registration as follows Curtis Lily Asenath Weymouth 5a 306 and there is only one Lily Curtis, born Weymounth 1891 +/-2 in the 1901 census. If it were me, I would now start looking through the complete Marriage indexes at http://www.ancestry.co.uk/search/rectype/vital/freebmd/bmd.aspx for the marriage of Lily Curtis, from 1906 onwards - watch out for some of the indexing. As for the late marriage, well my gt granda was 2 1/2 before his mother got married, and most of the first children seemed to arrive in less than 6 months. Funny that. Hope this all helps Steve
