The only record I have been able to find for him is his marriage certificate. I can find no birth, death or census records that I can definitly link to him, although I have found Emma and the children in various census records (living with Emma's parents in 1881, for instance). William was born c. 1853, possibly in Yorkshire or Lancashire (although most families with this name come from Essex or London), and most likely worked as a railway navvy.He and Emma married when she was only 15 (her age is given incorrectly on the marriage certificate as 19) and their first child, Louisa, was born in 1879. A second daughter Mary was born in 1881. A third child, Rhoda, was born (possibly to another man, not William) in 1888. Emma remarried in 1890, to a Samuel Lilly. William spells his name 'Dawsett' when he signs the register at his wedding, and the name is also mistranscribed variously as 'Dewsett' and 'Dousett' in other records.
