Dear DOWSETT Subscribers, Here are some resolutions to think about in the coming year: I will use uppercase for family names. I will use leading capitals for given names and place names. I will not shout (use words, except for family names and initials, that are all in capitals.) I will use meaningful subjects. I will only quote part of the messages that I reply to. I will only send messages to the list < DOWSETT@rootsweb.com > or < DOWSETT-L@rootsweb.com > and commands to the List Servers < DOWSETT-Request@rootsweb.com >, < DOWSETT-L-Request@rootsweb.com > and < DOWSETT-D-Request@rootsweb.com >. I will not send non ASCII characters (pound symbols and accented characters.) I will not send messages larger than 12,000 bytes. I will not send attachments or HTML (we prefer Plain Text.) I will not send Spam. I will try to keep messages on-topic (Genealogy and Family History related to the family name DOWSETT and its variations, anywhere in the world.) I will not send virus warnings to the list without first consulting the Listowner. I will not send complaints or criticism about other subscribers to the list (only the Listowner.) I will not let my mailbox fill-up to the point were my ISP bounces incoming messages. I will be kind and patient with Newbies (new subscribers to the list.) I will use the archives, at < http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/index?list=DOWSETT > and < http://archiver.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/search?aop&path=DOWSETT >, to look-up items that have already been posted to the list. I will respect the copyright of other's work and acknowledge my sources. I will change the Subject of a reply to reflect the contents of the message when needed. I will send thank yous to replies to my queries either personally off-list or generically on-list. I will use RootsWeb Password Central < http://passwordcentral.rootsweb.com > if I need to see if I am still subscribed to the list. If there appears to be problems with all the RootsWeb mailing lists, I will visit the RootsWeb Help Desk < http://helpdesk.rootsweb.com/ > or the new Find Answers page < http://rootsweb.custhelp.com/ > to look for any Announcements. When I unsubscribe or resubscribe to the mailing list I will always put the UNSUBSCRIBE or SUBSCRIBE command in Subject field. (It is recommended to put the command in the body of the message as well as the Subject, but if the command isn't in the Subject the request will vanish into thin air.) All the best for a happy and prosperous New Year and may all your searches be successful.
