My father's name is James Alexander Dowsett married to Mary Ann (Queenie) Ventura. He is the great-grandson of James I. Dowset who was married to Annie Green Ragsdale. James I. Dowsett's father was Samuel Dowsett who was married to Mary Bishop both of which were from England. Annie Ragsdale's mother's name was Keikipauahi, her mother was a Queen of Hawaii, her name was Kahawalu. The Dowsett's have a rich history here in Hawaii as they do in England and Australia. I wish that I could find out more about Mary Bishop, wife of Samuel Dowsett. I was just given a Bible that was printed in the year 1816 that belonged to Elizabeth Jane Dowsett. Her mother Mary Bishop gave this bible to her. I was recently given (from my father) many pictures and precious belongings of the Dowsett family.
