I don't quite remember your family but I do remember spending time at Keawe's family home in Kaneohe. It was so long ago...but I do know Keawe's father "Sherry" (I could have the spelling wrong) and wife Carol. Keawe and Barbie were the only children at that time, he had many more whom I don't know. Keawe has been living here on the Big Island for quite awhile now with his wife (whom I've never met)and children? Uncle Sherry passed away a couple of years ago as did Uncle Laurie Dowsett (Allan's father) he also lived here. I've always thought it was interesting that all the elder Dowsett males ended up retiring here on the Big Island. My father "Jamie" is 88 years young. He's been a rancher all of his life and prefers being around horses and animals than being in the middle of the concrete jungle in Honolulu. I grew up in Honolulu, went to Punahou school with the! rest of the Dowsett clan. Our families are pretty close to include Bill Morris (1st cousin to my father) his children were Linny, Posie, Toby and Ali Morris, but they are Dowsett's as well. While going to Punahou we lived in Maunawili which was in Kailua and life was all about the water, surfing and boating hence the families spent lots of time together :) My mother "Queenie Ventura Dowsett" was Mrs. America 1959, she was (is) one of Hawaii's foremost hula dancers. She's also a handful, now 81 and still moving around as if she was 30. Anyway, she knew your Aunt Lurline very well. My mother and father moved to the Big Island after they married in Honolulu, I believe in the year 1951. Both my parents spent a lot of time with your aunt at her home here next to the Mauna Kea Beach Hotel. Wow, what a spectacular home, it just recently sold for something like 30 million. My mother thought the world of her and tells stories of the good 'ol days when they were all young and spry. Alan Dowsett, yes it is true that Alan's son suffered an accident that changed his life and that of his family over night. It's so sad because his son was an inspiration to many prior to his accident. He is now a paraplegic and requires 100% care, therefore, Alan and his wife Sandy have relocated/moved to Colorado to look after him. Alan has a very successful business in Honolulu which also requires his attention so he travels quite often between Colorado and Honolulu. I've always admired Allan through out the years as just a great cousin to have, now through example he has shown many what compassion is all about. Back to Keawe....he's a cruiser and I'm sure has taken over what ever kind of fishing business that his father left behind not to mention a good amount of $$$. He's a great guy just wish that we could all see more of each other in our old age. My father has his phone number if want it I can get it for you and email it to you. My email address is poomaidowsett@msn.com. Are you on facebook? What's your real name, well....the one that you used to register on ancestry.com.....just kidding? Is it Erni Thompson? Let's stay in touch. A hui hou, Poomai I read about the Massie Case WOW.. to be a significant part of that trial is something that you would go down in history for!!! Really impressive!
