He was born in 1923 and his mother's name was Annie May Dowsett Brister. He was put into an orphanage from whence he was adopted four years later. He does not wish to meet any decendants, or cause family upset, but as he is in his eighties, would like to "just know" a little more about his family. He was told that his mother worked at Ealing Studios in the 1920s, but this may be just a story. If anyone has any information, they would make an elderly gentleman (who is not very well), a happy old soul. I would appreciate the slightest help, as I don't know where to start on this one. Thank you.

She lived in Stepney but died in Ilford circa 1959. Her daughter was Alice Dowsett who married a Wild - he was in the Metropolitan Police. My mother Joan Wild was born in Stepney [Salmon Lane] . She married a Jack Littlewood and died in Ilford in 1977. My maiden name was Littlewood and I married a Chaffey. This is probably of no use but the connection to the East End of London got me fired up. My Great Grandmother had Jewish connections - I think she was a money lender.

Dear List, Searching for members of the family connected with Dowsett Spring Company Dowagiac, Michigan. My husband's grandmother, Alice Buckley nee Dowsett (1874~1959) was sister to the founder member of the firm. She was one of a family of ten children, all born in Northampton, England, and we are not sure if he was Jim, Harry, Fred or George! Food parcels were received in England from the family in Dowagiac during WW2, and my husband (who remembers them when he was a small boy) would very much like to make contact with his cousins. Yours hopefully, Judy Buckley (the family historian)
