Sherry, Thank you for the information. I have seen a lot of it; but what I am needing most I guess, is the assuarnace that there is just the one Francis Downing; not two of them. I know most researchers claim there is just one. But one gal turned up for me an interesting piece of information seeming to point out that Susannah, his first wife, did not die until 1782; I believe Francis and his second wifeHenrietta, if she was his second wife, were having children by 1776. That is, is Susannah was actually Susannah Wells Downing; she is mentioned in a will of Richard Wells, her father; also mentions one son, Richard. Have you seen this? Sue
