The information on Ohio Downings in the War of 1812 is interesting but... Three of John Downing's children served from Ohio - John [son] served from May 1-December 12, 1812. Josiah enlisted with his brother John and was KIA July 20, 1812. Robert enlisted in 1813. I see a John and a Robert, no Josiah, on that list. Guess I'm going to have to get that record. Josiah left a widow but no children so I suppose it is irrelevant but...
