My first Downing was Louisa Welton Downing who married George Perry of Bradford Cty, PA. Both born in PA around 1846. Her father was Stephen Downing b. abt. 1808 in VT. He married a Mary S. from PA abt. 1819. His mother was Abigail [ ] Downing b. 1779 in CN. I think he was from Orange County VT, where there were a lot of Downings at the time. He may come from a family of brothers, Richard, Robert, Rufus, Thomas B., and Gideon dowining if Abigail's time period.
