It appears that these are the children of Capt. William Downing, but I am not clear which are from which marriage: William Jr. who married Mary Nichols, John B. who died 1698, Thomas, George/ not married; Charles/ not married, Mary who married Jonathan Royston, and Patience Downing. The Downing Family Historical organization in 1991 noted: "Captain William Downing, son of Sir George Downing and Frances Howard, came to America in 1651 and settled in Northumberland Co., VA. He, with two wives named Margaret, had children:..." William Jr., John born England d 1868, Thomas, Mary, Ptience, George and Charles..."This John Downing is the one who was the progenitor of all the Downings of America of this line.
