    3. Hello Robb, Yes, the lady that told me about Mary and Elizabeth (twins) was the daughter-in-law of Mary's direct lineage. Her Mother-in-law was researching this line. When she found out Mary had those children and no husband, she called her Irish Shanty Mary and destroyed all her research. All I got for information was what this lady remembered reading about in her Mother-in-laws research before it was destroyed. She said they were in Va. and somewhere in Ind. but couldn't remember the county. Wherever Elizabeth and James McClelland lived, Mary went too. She said Mary lived in a house on the back of their farm or property. She made no mention of S. Carolina. There are McClellands in Montgomery Co., KY. That is the county that Dennis and James Downing, Dennis's father came from to Henry Co., Ind. early 1800's and Dennis's Mother-in-law was a McClelland that married a McCormick. Also my William Downing b. around 1800 was living in Henry Co., Ind. in the same twp. as Dennis and James with his wife Nancy McClelland. There was an Alexander McClelland living in Montgomery Co., KY. that would have been the age to be Nancy's Father. I believe that Abraham McClelland from Scott Co., KY was the father of Alexander McClelland of Montgomery Co. KY. I will keep you informed if I find more of this puzzle.
