Welcome to the list. Would that book be 'The Downings of Europe and America 1273-1973'? That book has some good information and some bad information. Since it is centered on a major error in one of my lines I can only suggest that you verify all information. Is this part of the Downingtown, PA, Downing line? There are Downing/Millers there. They were Quakers. There were also Quaker settlements in Washington County, IN, so it could be that line.
