George and Lavinah VonBuskirk Downing were married in 1852. He was born in Pike Co OH to John and Mary Boiler Downing and died in Collins, IA 1904...also lived Hancock Co OH ca 1831, and went to Story County, at Collins IA about 1872. Their children, some of them buried in Iowa, are Mary Amanda Williams, David Thomas Downing, Eleanor Mead, Nancy Jane Day, William Sumner, Ellsowrth Downing who married Laura L. Brown, Grant Downing who did not marry, and John Henry Downing who died in Wiley CO 1950. Research on this family was done by Ethel Downing Davis, dau of Ellsworth, some years ago. Another son of John and Mary Boiler Downing, William Downing and his wife Eliza Jane Green left Pike County OH and went to Hancock Co, OH then to Morris Co KS. William served in the Kansas legislature. Their children mostly lived in KS. William's brother Isaac also went to Kansas to join his brother with his father.And their brother Timothy Downing married to Mary Wood went to Kansas and on the the west, or at least his wife Mary went on to WA and OR.
