I have often wondered if this Joseph Downing married to Jemima Woodward is the brother of our Francis Downing married to Susannah Wells. People keep trying to link them up somehow. Joseph was born about 1748 and our Francis was born about 1726/1736. Because of an uncertainty about the exact date of Francis' birth, can't assume he might be another of Francis' sons. If anyone can help me with Francis Downing, I would appreciate it. Many researchers think he will belong in the Emanuel Downing line; we do to; but so far we can't find the right link.
