OR Lincoln, Addison Co., Vt. was born as ROBERT DOWNING according to his CW Pension file. Based on Census data taken in Lewis, Essex Co., N.Y., probable siblings of Robert are: Willard, b. 1836 Clark, b. 1833 Marriette, b. 1832 Parents (lived in Lincoln, Addison Co., Vt.) Major Downing, b. Ma., d. 1855, Vt. Mother, unknown, died abt. 1851 The parents never appeared in NY with the children. There are probably 2 other children of Major Downing also.
