I really expected to loose the trail sometime in the 1800's. But, finding this John Downing got my hopes up that he was John the son of Emanuel. But, that proved to be a false hope. If anyone out there knows the connection, let me know and MAKE MY DAY ! Also, does anyone out there know where you can get a copy of Anna Gregath's book. I briefly looked at one in the Library of Congress and made a few photo copies of what, at the time, I thought were the only relevant Downings. Now, I know that my tree branches through other states (not just OH, PA, NY, MA, & CT) and it sure would be great to have my own copy of the book. Have you seen Richard Loveless's book "300 American Downing Families" ? I saw a copy at the Allen Co. Library in Ft. Wayne, IN. Next to going to Salt Lake City, going to Ft.
