My earliest ancestor is Francis Downing, Jr. We just learned from another lady of our line that his father was Francis Downing, Sr., I presume of Yorkshire, as that is where Francis Jr was born. Can anybody help me with this? Have you seen a Francis Sr, with a son Francis, born 1736 in Yorkshire? Or a Francis of 1736 with a father Francis, as I say, presumbably from Yorkshire?
