I have seen her grave. The poor thing died as a result of childbirth in 1889. She had married Wm. Jones, a native of Ireland, and they had just the 2 children. As I told you, she was his widow when she m. my great grandfather, Daniel Beaver, in Howard Co in 1874. I have found no evidence that Wm. Jones had any other kin in this country. When Martha was a girl, her mother had died in LaPorte Co IN and her father, Joshua Downing migrated to Leavenworth, KS prior to the Civil War. I was thrilled to see his grave in the National Cemetery in Leavenworth on this trip, the only one of my 4 Civil War Soldiers whose graves I had not visited. Perhaps we will eventually be able to link our Downings! Marlene
