I guess it comes under "Murphy's Law". I read about all these Downing lines that are being researched with you folks coming up on brick walls and UFOs....and I sigh for you and sympathize with your frustration. The funny thing -- the Murphy's Law corrolary -- comes due to my line, that of Thomas Downing, after whom Downingtown, PA, is named. Amazingly, this line has been thoroughly documented in Futhey & Cope; "Genealogy of the Palmer-Trimble Families", "Genealogy of the Smedley Family"; and even recently in Jane Davidson's fine work, "History of Downingtown". The line can be traced back to Bradninch, Devonshire, England, in 1530. But no one else on this board is connected to the line. Sigh. I can't share all the wonderful documentation I have. Ray., You made me laugh at least and if your statement were true no one will find you or your documentation and I know that is not going to happen. Someone because someone will find you under bush and want your documentation. lol I wish I connected to someone. And someone could find my Nancy Downing married to a Hite. My documentation is hiding with Ray's. Only problem is I only have names no documentation on the Downing line at all. Ray you at least have the documentation. joy ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, March 10, 2004 9:41 AM Subject: Re: [DOWNING] Downing Migrations > I guess it comes under "Murphy's Law". Ray, I wish I had your problem! I think. As far as I can tell now, my Downings started in Yorkshire. I think I have found the father of our Francis Downing, but I have no documentation really for that find.
