I found a bunch of DOWNINGS in one of my note books. This is from Harford County. They are not miBroad Creek Hundred census of 1776. Clyde, These are my Downings. Francis was the first of this line to come over here from Yorkshire, Eng.; at least there was one other Francis Downing who came over here in 1624 to VA. He is supposed to be the first of this line, but there is a big gap in information between him and this Francis, who was born in 1726/36. We have not yet found any direct descendents for the very early Francis, who was said to have left descendents in the northern neck of VA.
