Any of you Downings with ancestors from County Cork, Ireland may want to look at Researcher Riobard O'Dwyer's posting "Further Families, Eyeries Parish in the 1800s" which he posted Friday, May 7 on the Rootsweb Beara Mailing List. There are a number of Downings listed, including my gr gr gr grandparents, Daniel Downing and Johanna O'Sullivan. Would love to hear from any others who may have come from that area (Eyeries Parish, County Cork, Ireland). My Downings came to Fall River, MA in 1849, went to Northern Michigan for copper mining and eventually homesteaded in Iowa.
