Here are copies/portions of a few of the photos we have of the Anson Josiah and Mary Eliza (Carpenter) Downing family. I don't think I have any pictures of William Henry Downing or his children, so your branch of the family probably collected them when the estate was settled. Can anyone help me identify the sisters in the photo in front of the mirror? Someone had written "Maude and Clara Downing" on the back, but their ages would be too far apart. If one is Clara, it is probably Irene (next older) or Edith (the youngest sister, my grandmother) A search of the Rootsweb Downing-L mailing list archives should locate Samuel Downing family trees I have previously posted. I have also traced Mary Eliza (Carpenter) Downing's (1844-1917) family, Sands Coe Carpenter (b. bet. 1808-1816 -died 1900) and Mary (Clark) Carpenter (1806-1846) Mary died when Mary Eliza was only 22 months old and Mary Eliza and sister Clarissa lived with an aunt, Salome (Clark) Buel.
