Morris, 77, of Terre Haute died at 7:43 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24, 2005, in Union Hospital. She retired as a deputy assessor for Prairieton Township. She was born Aug. 15, 1928, in Vigo County to Robert Downing and Grace Cox Downing. She was preceded in death by her husband, George "Bill" Morris. Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia Farrand and husband Randy of Terre Haute, and Jeanne Arnett and husband Mike of Bolingbrook, Ill.; one sister, Marilyn Fields; two sisters-in-law, Irene Fleschner and husband George, and Annabell Morris; three grandchildren, Eric Farrand of New York City, Mindy Farrand of Terre Haute, and Heather Wolz and husband Roelf of Joliet, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews. She also was preceded in death by her parents; and one sister, Valera Buckallew. She was a member of Prairieton United Methodist Church and a past member of Prairieton Home Extension Club. Services are 10 a.m. Wednesday in DeBaun Springhill Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Lee officiating. Burial is in Prairieton Cemetery.
