His family lived around Chester's Gap/Front Royal, Virginia (now Warren County). In the 1810 Frederick, Virginia census is a James Downing & Rezin Downing and they are not very far from my other families that lived there. In the 1820 Front Royal, Frederick, Virginia census is a James Downing Sr. & James Downing Jr. Rezin Downing married 3 Sep 1807, Loudoun, Virginia to Nancy Turner. He was son of James Downing & Asenath Jane Waters. He moved with his family to Adams County, Indiana. His father James Downing died 1832 in Jefferson County, WV (Virginia). I believe the James Downing in the 1820 Frederick, Virginia census is the same James Downing who married Asenath Jane Waters. There are no Dowers in Frederick, Virginia at this time period but there are Downing's living there. I believe my Sarah Ann Dower is actually Sarah Ann Dower/Downer/Downing. The spelling is sim! ilar. My grandparents Jesse & Sarah Green had a son John Green married Martha Turner daughter of Thomas Turner & Hannah Anderson. The Turners are connected to the Downing's.
