My line is through the Calvert-Chenoweth line. I am researching the Mo. Connections. Could use any help. I have been looking at Blackwell, Bennett, Mahan in Cooper Co., Mo. And their connection to Tenn. Sent from Mail for Windows 10
Hi, Marian, Thank you for your interest. I regret that I don't have anything on your Mo. connections. Most of my Downing ancestors have pretty well stuck on or near the East coast, mostly in the Southeast part of the U. S. I have reason to believe that my Downing ancestors settled in Southern England, as they seem to have scattered from Kent County to Cornwall County. In my researches, I have found a Renatus Downing who married in Cornwall about 1628, and about three Renatus Downings in the U. S. A., one who was born about 1750 in N.C.,U.S.A., another who was born abt, 1810 in S.C., U.S.A, and another who was born abt. 1850 in Florida, U.S.A., where I live. The Renatus who was born in1810 in S. C. was my great-great grandfather. Again, I thank you for your interest, sorry that I couldn't be of more help with your Mo. connections. We Downings probably are linked somewhere in the foggy past but, it is a tough job to get all of us linked! Best Wishes to you, Junius M.
