There were rumors that there is Native American as well as Hispanic lineage on my paternal side, but I do not have contact with anyone to confirm this. Here is what I do know: GGrandfather - Ruey Nichols Downing (married to Amanda Bennett Downing) GGGrandfather - Ruey Lopez Downing (married to Ellen Caroline Simpson) The family's roots seem to be pretty well concentrated in North Carolina, especially Roanoke Rapids. I have searched and searched, but cannot seem to go back further than my Great-Great-Grandfather. If anyone has any information, it would be greatly appreciated!
