She was born March 17, 1917 in Delaware County, Ohio to Clarence Downing and Ella (Wood) Downing. Mary was a graduate of Willis High School . She also was a member of the Jolly Joysters, Prospect Senior Citizens, Radnor Grange, Radnor Mother's Club, the local garden club, and when younger, the Farm Bureau with her husband. Also, when younger, she enjoyed taking care of the laying hens and doing ceramics. She also enjoyed gardening, especially her strawberry patch, playing cards at the Senior Citizens, and mowing her grass and only she could mow it correctly. Left to cherish her memory are daughters, Ellen (Larry) Cawley of Marion, Ohio, Sherry (Roland) Augspurger of Delaware, OH and Jenny (Bill) Adams of Delaware; son, Tim (Kay) Bishop of Radnor; 11 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and one great great grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Loyd O. Bishop on July 15, 1971; a brother, Wallace Downing; and a sister, Fawn Owen. The family will receive friends on Sunday January 26th from 2-5 pm at the Snyder-Rodman Funeral Center, 1510 W. William Street at Valleyside Drive, Delaware and where funeral services will be held on Monday January 27th at 1:00 pm with her son-in-law Larry Cawley officiating. Burial will follow in Radnor Cemetery. Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the Radnor Baptist Church or American Diabetes Association ; envelopes available at the funeral home.
