    2. This story about the hunting death of Robert Downing in the winter of 1852-53 matches a legend our family has that our Robert Downing died at that same time in Iowa out hunting, and he did have Frakes relatives. Robert Downing is my ggg grandfather, through his son Elijah who was born in Iowa City in 1849. Robert was married to Ursula Bradshaw. She was remarried to Hugh Chambers in 1855, and I beleive she was dead by 1860, because Hugh was remarried to someone else by 1860. We have no idea what happened to Ursula, or her other children. I think there were 2 other sons, and a daughter, Tabitha. Clark ____________________________________________________________ OVERSTOCK ipads: $30.93 Get 32GB Apple iPad for as low as $30.93. 3. Robert Downing was the son of John Downing, a War of 1812 veteran, and Tabitha Johnson. John died in Ohio in 1819 and Tabitha remarried to John Richman, did not move to Illinois with the Downing family. It seems likely their son Robert would name a daughter Tabitha. Frakes are connected to Downing from the Revolutionary War if not before. Patrick Frakes/Fraikes died in 1873 in Webster City. He initially married Elizabeth Morrow. Several of her siblings were married to Downings. She died before he went to Iowa. 3. Clark, I am the GGG-granddaughter of Robert Downing through Elijah's older brother Alexander who was born in Nov 1844. Can you tell me where you found the marriage of Hugh Chambers and Ursula Bradshaw Downing? I see from the 1856 census that they are in the same household but both are listed as widowed not married. -----Original Message----- From: downing-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:downing-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of nkbj1776@juno.com Sent: Monday, November 26, 2012 1:38 PM To: gc-gateway@rootsweb.com; downing@rootsweb.com Subject: Re: [DOWNING] John P.
